Quite a few people expressed strong interest in knowing how I went about making the Photographs with the Fire Staff.  So for you guys, I made a "making of" kind of video.  It should probably come with a "do at your own risk" warning, or "Don't try this at home."  SO yea, don't hold me responsible if you try it

The people that are watching me are so incredibly talented.  They inspire me and encourage me just when I need it most.  I want to thank you all for the support you have given me.

I also want my watchers to see a little of the diverse talent that the others have.  Some are sequential artists, some are photographers or graphic designers.  I know some of you can work wonders with a tablet and make works that seem so real it's unbelievable.  Others seem to work so well with models, something I find very difficult to do.  Some I know in real life, and others I have been privileged to meet on DA.

Enjoy each other's work and take the time to see what else they have to offer.  I am only putting a small taste here, just one of my many favorites that you all have.

I had a lot of fun with my last project.  I made a fire staff and got some interesting pics painting with fire.  There have been many a day when I was younger I could be seen swinging a staff around for fun.  Now a days I guess game consoles entertain the kids instead.  Anyways, it was interesting doing the same thing, but with fire on the staff.  I didn't do much with costume, since I wanted to make sure I didn't ruin good clothes on my first try.  Maybe I will try something like this again, and dress more in character.

If you haven't seen the other projects I have done the past few months, check them out and let me know what you think.  Taking a digital class this semester has given me a lot more tools to play with and a lot more that I want to learn.  I have begun to think of photography differently.  In the past, I though of how I could capture the world though a camera, and how I could show my ideas though the limitations of film, and darkroom.  Now I am starting to figure out how to show my ideas in ways that were not possible in the medium of photography before, things that could only be done though painting, pastels, or other "fine art" medium.  Now photography is not hemmed in with these limitations.

I have been playing in some aspects of photography for 30 years.  I was 6 yrs old when my dad put a 35mm camera in my hands and started me looking at the world differently.  Don't get me wrong, I will still be doing some straight photography, but more use of Photoshop on some projects will be a lot of fun.
